can substitute for anything that calls for cool whip or whip topping by adding sugar to it. can also sub for cream cheese in some recipes. it can also be used to replace milk in baking.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Sour Cream Apple Pie with Streusel Topping Recipe


Filling


1 cup sour cream


2/3 cup sugar


2 Tablespoons flour


1/4 teaspoon salt


1 teaspoon vanilla


1 egg


3 cups peeled, sliced tart apples (about 1 1/4 pounds of slices)


1 9'; unbaked pie shell, frozen or chilled in the freezer for at least 30 minutes (see p芒te bris茅e recipe)





Topping


1/2 cup brown sugar, packed


1/3 cup flour


1/4 cup butter, room temperature


1/2 teaspoon cinnamon


Mix together all ingredients until the mixture resembes coarse crumbs.





1 Preheat oven to 400掳F.





2 Beat together sour cream, sugar, flour, salt, vanilla and egg (can beat by hand). Add apples, mixing carefully to coat well.





3 Put filling into a pie shell and bake at 400 degrees initially for 25 min.





4 Remove from oven and sprinkle with Cinnamon Crumb Topping. Bake for and additional 20 more minutes.





Let cool for a hour before serving. Serves 8.

Easy Cheesy-cake


INGREDIENTS


1 (9 inch) prepared shortbread pie crust


2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese


1 cup white sugar


2 eggs


2 teaspoons vanilla extract


1 cup sour cream


DIRECTIONS


Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).


Cream together cream cheese and sugar. Add eggs one at time, blending well. Add vanilla and sour cream. Pour into shortbread crust.


Bake for 60 to 70 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cake jiggles evenly across the top when lightly shaken. Run a knife around the outside edge, but leave the cake in the pan. Let cool on counter, then place in refrigerator. Remove from pan when completely chilled, and serve.








Banana and Sourcream Coffee Cake


Ingredients-1 c Mashed bananas


1 c Sugar


1 ts Baking Powder


1 ts Baking Soda


1 ts Vanilla


1/2 c Butter or margarine


1/2 c Sour cream


1/2 ts Cinnamon


1/4 c Chopped nuts


1/4 c Sugar


1/4 ts Salt


2 cups Flour


2 Eggs


Directions:In bowl, cream butter with sugar. Beat in eggs..Add mashed bananas, vanilla and sour cream. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Fold into the creamed mixture, stirring just to blend. In separate bowl, combine finely chopped nuts, 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle half over bottom of well greased bundt or tube pan. Spoon in half the batter. Sprinkle with remaining nuts and cover with balance of batter. Bake at 350 degrees approx. 45 minutes or until cake is nicely browned..Test with toothpick. Cool in pan on rack for 10 minutes. Serves 8-10===(To make it plain, you can eliminate the cinnamon mixture and bake in tube pan.)You can also substitute 3 egg whites instead of 2 eggs, for less cholesterol.








Berry good Tart (Raspberry)


For crust


8 whole graham crackers, coarsely broken


1/4 cup (packed) golden brown sugar


1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted





For filling and topping


6 ounces cream cheese, room temperature


1/3 cup sugar


1/2 cup sour cream


2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice


1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract





2 1/2-pint baskets raspberries


1/4 cup seedless raspberry jam





Make crust:


Preheat oven to 375掳F. Grind crackers and sugar in processor until coarse crumbs form. Add butter and process until crumbs are evenly moistened. Press crumb mixture firmly onto bottom and up sides of 9-inch-diameter tart pan with removable bottom. Bake until crust is firm to touch, about 8 minutes. Cool crust on rack.


Make filling and topping:


Using electric mixer, beat cream cheese and sugar in medium bowl until smooth. Beat in sour cream, lemon juice and vanilla. Spread filling in cooled crust. Chill until firm, at least 4 hours. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover; keep chilled.)





Arrange berries over filling. Whisk jam in small bowl to loose consistency. Drizzle over berries. Serve immediately or chill up to 3 hours.
5 Cup Salad


1 cup minature marshmallows


1 cup sour cream


1 cup coconut


1 cup pineapple (bite size)


1 cup cherries


Leave set in refrigerator overnight
Lunch Box Sour Cream Cookies Recipe


Serves/Makes: 5 dozen





3/4 cup butter


1 1/2 cup sugar


1 egg


1/2 cup sour cream


1 teaspoon vanilla


3 cups sifted all-purpose flour


1/2 teaspoon salt


1/2 teaspoon baking soda


1 teaspoon baking powder


1/2 cup sugar or cinnamon sugar


pecan halves





Directions:





Cream butter and sugar until light and smooth. Add egg; beat until fluffy. Stir in sour cream and vanilla. Sift together the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Stir sifted dry ingredients into the creamed mixture. Chill for 1 to 2 hours.





Place small balls of dough onto greased baking sheet. Grease bottom of a glass then dip in sugar or cinnamon sugar. Press each ball of cookie dough into a thin circle with sugared bottom of glass. Press a pecan half into the top of each cookie. Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove to racks to cool.
I've always liked it with fresh strawberries and brown sugar.





Fill 2 bowls, one with brown sugar and one with sour cream, then dip a strawberry into each. Very easy and very yummy.





It's not something you cook, but I've never known anyone who didn't like it.

why would u make a dessert w/ sour cream?
Many chocolate cookie recipies call for sour cream. You can put it in chocolate cakes as well, just a table spoon, it enhances the chocolate flavor.
