Does anybody know of any really good cake and dessert recipes that don't involve using eggs?

It is for somebody who is allergic to eggs.

Thanks!Does anybody know of any really good cake and dessert recipes that don't involve using eggs?
First off search the veggie section and you'll find LOTS of recipes that don't use egg and lots of ways to replace eggs! I've left links to the Ener-G company that makes egg replacer and two sites that have vegan recipes (vegans *never* use egg).

If you have a *specific* question about how to make a particular cake/dessert or anything without egg you are *MORE* than welcome to ask in the vegetarian section but I'll warn you that we see your exact question in there several times a month and most are sick of it%26lt;g%26gt;.

You can also dig through my old answers as I've gotten quite good at ditching eggs/dairy etc. and I regularly amaze allergic people by recreating 'safe' foods for them!Does anybody know of any really good cake and dessert recipes that don't involve using eggs?
I have one!

I've never tried this but my mom has and she loves it!
Here are a couple I found that sound pretty good:

Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

1-1/2 cup flour

1/3 cup cocoa powder

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 cup cold water (or ice coffee)

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 tsp vinegar

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375掳F (190掳C). Use a small brownie size pan (no greasing required). Mix all the dry ingredients right in pan. Mix all the wet ingredients in separate bowl except the vinegar (important!). Add wet ingredients to dry and stir until all dry ingredients are mixed. Add the vinegar quickly and stir in 鈥?immediately put the pan in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 min. Cool thoroughly.

Optional: after you add the vinegar, you can put some frozen cherries, raspberries or cranberries on top of the batter (or you can mix them in beforehand)

Applesauce Spice Cake

Ingredients:

1/2 cup molasses

1 cup applesauce

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp cloves

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1-3/4 cup flour (whole wheat pastry flour is good)

2 tsp ginger (optional)

Preparation:

Combine the molasses and applesauce in a large bowl. Combine remaining ingredients and stir into the liquid. (If the batter seems very dry, add a little more applesauce or a little water.) Bake in a nonstick 8 x 8-inch baking pan or one sprayed with a non-stick spray, in a 350掳 F (175掳C) oven, for 30 to 45 minutes, or until it tests done.

The optional ginger makes an acceptable gingerbread. You can also leave out the ginger and add 3 or 4 tablespoons of cocoa to make a tasty but not very sweet or rich chocolate cake.
Hi!

Type in ';NDTV'; and you will get the site for New Delhi television

station. It is in India, and, as you might know, a lot of Indians are vegetarians. The screen that comes up has ';Recipes'; on its

masthead .... right across the top ... click it on and you will find

many recipes for sponge cakes and cookies without eggs... there is one that was posted recently for a whole wheat cake with walnuts which (as I recall) was without eggs and proved to be very popular, especially with children.... they also had a big apple cake

for children to bake.... I hope this is helpful. Cheers!
